The historic Suste, built around 1680 at the time of the "Port" in the Free State of the Three Leagues, houses a collection of artefacts from the cultural heritage of the Walser people in the Rhine Forest.

The listed church in Obermutten is the only sacred building in Switzerland that is made entirely of wood, with the surrounding larch forests providing the building material. It is also the highest wooden church in Europe.

The first boulderers (boulder climbers) discovered the "Magic Wood" area in the municipality of Ferrera back in 1996. In 2004, this trend was taken up by the municipality and the "Magic Wood" area was rezoned as a bouldering zone.
