Circular hike in the wildly romantic Calfeisen Valley

The wildly romantic landscape in the Calfeisen Valley is strongly influenced by impressive erosion processes with water power in rocks of varying hardness. On the circular hike St Martin -Malanseralp- Alp Platta - Alp Sardona back to St. Martin we find explanations for the causes of the large construction site at the Gigerwald dam. At the Malanseralp Hut, we are in the middle of the Graue Hörner hunting ban area in Switzerland. We have a unique panoramic view over the Calfeisen Valley, with the sharp dividing line of the Glarus main thrust on the Ringelspitz-Glaserhorn-Tristellhorn and the Piz Sardona. The Calfeisen Valley is also unique in terms of fauna and flora.

Meeting point: 08:30 a.m. St. Martin car park, Calfeisental, possibility to travel by car to St. Martin, from Vättis 1 bus with 8 seats is available
End: approx. 5:00 p.m. in St. Martin

Equipment: hiking or trekking shoes, sun and rain protection, food for the road, possibly trekking poles, possibly binoculars

Cost per person: CHF 40.- or free for members of the association "UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona"
