HAIKHO - Aqualligraphie von Dolores Rupa

Dolores Rupa has been working as an image photographer for many years. But her work moves on several levels: As a counterpoint to photography, she finds time, peace and new creative impulses in freelance art projects. This time her focus is on calligraphy and painting.

Dolores Rupa has been working for several years on the poetry of contemporary haikus – short poems inspired by Japanese ZEN. They move the artist to a holistic process – from poetry to pictorial, sensual processing. This image search leads partly through calligraphy, partly through painting. This is how the path she takes today was born – the "aqualligraphy": a mixture of wild, free, modern calligraphy and watercolor painting. The following are used: Japanese inks, self-made inks, pigments, watercolours and sometimes found objects from nature. One picture lives from absolute simplicity, another from lush material. The artistry – but also the designed coincidence, the playful, spontaneous, intuitive leads the hand in a meditative, sensual working process – completely in the here and now.
There is a natural relationship between haiku and hiking. It is the present in which one wanders. It is in the present that the haiku occurs. The feet wander, the head is free. There he can perceive the world and occupy himself with poetry.
The nature of Graubünden, landscapes, favourite places, seasons, plus short snapshots of everyday life: momentary observations and sensations are the source of inspiration for Dolores Rupa's haikus and the resulting images. Just a "HAIKHO" – a homecoming to oneself and to one's home in oneself.
