Nicole Johänntgen: Saxophon-Solo in der Kirche St. Jakob

On Friday, February 6, 2026, the multi-award-winning saxophonist Nicole Johänntgen will transform the Church of St. Jakob in Klosters into a living sound space. From 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., she will perform a solo concert that uses the special acoustics of the nave as a player.

Nicole Johänntgen is one of the most distinguished jazz saxophonists in the German-speaking world. She has received numerous awards – including the International Jazz Contest Monaco, the JTI Trier Jazz Award and the European Yamaha Saxophone Contest – and has played with artists such as Daniel Powter, Roger Cicero, Eric Harland, Aaron Parks, Nils Landgren and Stephan Eicher. International trade magazines such as DownbeatoderJazzwise, regularly honour her work; In the Downbeat Critics Poll 2025, she is listed as Rising Star Alto Saxophonist of the Year.
She is currently touring with various bands (Labyrinth, Robin) and thrilled a full house together with Robin at the Keyboard Days 2025 in Klosters.

Her concert tours have taken her across Europe and as far as New Zealand and Indonesia. In addition to her stage work, she is involved in education, leads workshops, teaches worldwide and founded initiatives such as the Kids Jazz Club and SOFIA to promote improvising female musicians. To date, she has released 26 albums.
