Description
EUROPEAN HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY FOR SINTI AND ROMA
Picture opening and reading with Behar Heinemann
Musical accompaniment by Patrick Waser
On the European Holocaust Remembrance Day for Sinti and Roma, KULTURPUNKT and Graubünden Reformiert invite you to a special commemoration event. With an impressive combination of visual arts, literature and music, we commemorate the suffering and persecution of the Sinti and Roma during the Nazi era – and at the same time set an example for respect, diversity and a culture of remembrance.
The artist and author Behar Heinemann, herself a member of the Roma community, presents impressive works in a picture vernissage that deal with identity, exclusion and resistance. As part of the event, she will also read selected texts that address both personal stories and collective memories.
Patrick Waser, Yenish musician and member of the "Bündner Spitzbuaba", accompanies the evening with musical improvisations on his hand organ. His sounds create an emotional space that deepens the images and words in an impressive way.
