Across Graubünden with a detour to Lake Como
Show all 4 images
This route leads across the whole Graubünden and further to Italy to the large Lake Como. The lake is characterized by its extremely mild, Mediterranean climate, which still provides pleasantly warm days well into late autumn, and its numerous small towns and villages distributed around the shore that have preserved their Italian origins to this day. A long journey, also ideal for a 2-day trip.

Description
The route begins in the unique Swiss mountain world surrounded by green meadows and streams in Davos, passing through all the small Walser settlements along the Landwasser river to Filisur, over the Julier Pass into the other high valley, the Engadin. The large shimmering lakes open a beautiful view which one follows to Maloja over the Malojapass through Bergell to the border. After the border, the route goes via Chiavenna to Lake Como at Menaggio. A small town with colorful houses and finest ice cream varieties.
Visitors are always fascinated by how Lake Como has managed to preserve its original Italian charm over the years. A significant part of this is due to the famous historic villas with their well-maintained parks found all around Lake Como. The sunny location also favors a surprising and exotic vegetation, which revives the "Dolce Vita flair."
After Menaggio, you return to Switzerland via Lugano, from where you go via the Ticino canton capital Bellinzona, over the San Bernardino Pass into the Viamala Valley to Thusis. The Viamala is known for the eponymous gorge. A unique natural experience for which people today travel, especially because of the spectacular world of water and the rocks up to 300 meters high. The last kilometers are completed via Thusis, Chur, Landquart through the Prättigau up to Davos.
