Description
The hike starts in Elm and leads via Alp Ramin up to Foopass at 2223 m above sea level. Alp Ramin is one of the largest alpine pastures in the Glarus region and is divided into three sections, with pastures between 1,300 and 2,300 m above sea level. On the left hand, we are accompanied by the Foostock, where the structures of the Glarus main overthrust can be particularly well observed. 250 to 300 million-year-old Verrucano rests on 100 to 150 million-year-old limestones and below that the youngest 35 to 50 million-year-old flysch rocks.
From Foopass, we enjoy a breathtaking view of the Glarus Alps. Via Alp Foo and Walabütz we descend to Alp Vorsietz. A look back is worthwhile because the waterfalls from the alpine huts on Walabütz to the water intake on the Seez are very impressive. Tip: Try the fine Glarus alpine cheese at Alp Ramin. At Alp Siez you deserve a refreshment before you casually walk along the Seez towards Weisstannen.
