Description
The hike begins in Elm and leads via Alp Ramin up to the Foo Pass at 2223 m above sea level. Alp Ramin is one of the largest alps in the Glarus region and is divided into three plateaus, with pastures between 1,300 and 2,300 m above sea level. 250 to 300 million year old Verrucano lies on 100 to 150 million year old limestones and below them the youngest 35 to 50 million year old flysch rocks.
From Foopass we enjoy a fantastic view of the Glarus Alps. Via Alp Foo and Walabütz we descend to Alp Vorsietz. It is worth taking a look back, because the waterfalls from the alpine huts on Walabütz to the water intake on the Seez are very impressive. Tip: Try the fine Glarus alpine cheese on Alp Ramin. At Alp Siez you deserve a refreshment before you hike leisurely along the Seez towards Weisstannen.
