Description

The blue-white marked trail goes past small lakes, over rock scree ridges, loose gravel and rock slabs. From the Casnil Sud pass you can enjoy a magnificent view and look directly at the impressive north face of the Cima dal Cantun and the panoramic view from Fornotal over the entire glaciated Forno basin and the wild granite peaks towering behind it is simply breathtaking. If you are lucky, you can even observe ibexes. Good surefootedness is required but chains are installed in the most difficult places. The chains are installed at the beginning of summer.

Geheimtipp

Take a multi-day tour with overnight stays in a hut - see Sentiero Alpino Bregaglia

Sicherheitshinweis

Sure-footed - multiple exposed passages with chains

Ausrüstung

Mountain hiking boots, possibly pimples with you

Directions

You first descend the Val Forno for 45 minutes on the hut trail to the junction at the bridge at about 2200m. The path now climbs and leads past huge rock slabs and over vegetated rock bands to a terrain shoulder below the eastern ridge of Piz Casnil (approx. 2630m).

One now traverses a couloir and a little later arrives at a large scree terrace. From here on, the route is the same as before: through a small valley you climb southwestwards to the pass da Casnil Sud (2941m). At the top of the pass, the view to the north face of the Cima dal Cantun becomes clear! From the pass you climb up a few more meters to the north, then the descent begins. Over boulder terrain and meadows you reach the Capanna da l'Albigna (2333m).
