Description
The Outdoor Fitness Trails in the Heidiland vacation region comprise over 30 uniformly signposted running trails with a total of 10 stations, making it one of the largest outdoor fitness parks in the Alps. The Glarina Trail is one of three running trails around the Valens station.
The starting point for this 6.7 km trail is the Valens station info point at the Valens clinic post bus stop (915 m above sea level). All three trails first lead past the school, minigolf course, church and store, up to the road that leads to Vasön. On this road, you leave the village behind you and follow a wooden sidewalk towards the Tschenner Bridge (933). After crossing the imposing bridge, which is almost 150 meters long and around 100 meters high, the trail climbs gently through a forest past the hamlet of Tschenner (950). From here, the trail continues along the little-used road to the idyllic village of Vasön (928) with its beautifully decorated gardens and wooden houses. Shortly after leaving the village, the trail turns left onto the hiking trail, which leads through mixed forests and past meadows and pastures down towards Neugüetli (800). The longer the descent takes, the narrower and less well developed the hiking trail becomes. Once you reach the bottom of the valley, the short but steep ascent to the Glarina plain (870) begins. Once there, you are rewarded with a beautiful view of Valens and the surrounding mountains. The last section back to the village first leads across a meadow and then along the wide, well-maintained agricultural road past the village church back to the Infopoint.
