Description

A scenic and cultural tour under the spell of the Walensee and the impressive Churfirsten peaks. The second part of the route is marked by bold castles and beautiful vineyards. The tour is an excellent choice for spring or autumn.

This scenic tour on easy unsurfaced and surfaced paths has two faces:
as a panoramic tour with idyllic Kerenzerberg high above the shimmering Walensee: a sunny terrace with dandelion meadows and flowering fruit trees, houses decorated with flowers, and lush gardens. And opposite in the valley, so close, the proud Churfirsten. Unfortunately there is no continuous high-level path on this route, which is why you have to make continual ascents and descents.

The second face is cultural. An excursion into regional culture and history: the impressive Gräpplang castle ruins, the Capuchin Monastery at Mels, the Heidi and wine village of Maienfeld, with lovely centre and wine-tasting cellars. Last but not least, Sargans Castle, seen from afar and hallmark of the region. A technically easy but quite demanding tour, perfect for spring or autumn when snow still lies in the higher regions.
