Description
The pioneering achievements of nature inspire on this hike to the geographical center of Graubünden, the rock needle Crap Furò. The hike can be done from Surava to Alvaneu Bad or via Plang digls Bovs back to Surava. A highlight is the natural forest reserve at Crap Furò, where since 2008 only nature has the say. Tree felling is prohibited, allowing the forest to develop undisturbed. Plants and animals benefit from this. On the Path of the Pioneers, you experience forest conditions rarely found in such a small area in Switzerland. Geology, erosion, glacier and forest history, mass elevation, and climate have contributed significantly to this. Furthermore, you learn why most social events like concerts or theater used to take place in January.
Hidden Gem
The Path of the Pioneers is also suitable as an excursion for school classes.
Safety Note
Good shoes and surefootedness are required.
