Details

Description

This challenging trail first leads with a relatively steep climb through the forest to Maran. Then the ascent soon becomes somewhat gentler, and the path leads through alpine meadows. Those who master the almost 300 meters of elevation gain will be rewarded with a magnificent view from Prätschalp and then from Rot Tritt. At Prätschalp, there is an opportunity to refresh yourself if the alpine herders are there for the summer. The entire ascent turns into a descent after Scheidegg - the return is on a similar route, just slightly offset sideways, back to the starting point.

Hidden Gem

Visit the sun terrace of Prätschalp or the Maran dairy with local delicacies.

Equipment

Good running shoes, as part of the route lies on a mountain trail.

Directions

From the Scheitenböden, follow the signs over the forest path to Maran. At the Golf & Sporthotel Hof Maran, briefly follow the main road upwards and then immediately turn right onto the gravel path at the Maran dairy. This winds somewhat upwards and passes just above the Upper Prätschsee to Prätschalp. A loop is made via Rot Tritt and then runs back via Scheidegg and Sandböden to Maran. Here, the path branches right again somewhat higher up and leads back down to the starting point.

Directions

Public Transport

From Chur, the Rhaetian Railway runs hourly to Arosa. The Scheitenböden are located just above Arosa station and are easily accessible on foot.

Travel Information

From Chur, follow the signs to Arosa. Before Obersee, turn right and then right again at the beverage warehouse. The Scheitenböden are located where the chairlift floats above the street.

Parking

Since there are no parking spaces at the Scheitenböden, it is recommended to park the car at the Obersee parking lot (directly in front of the beverage warehouse) or in the Ochsenbühl parking garage (left after the sports and congress center).
