Description

In the morning, the hike starts from the Bifertenhütte up to Falla Leng. The terrain is barren and stony, and with a bit of luck chamois can be observed. On the Fuorcla da Gavirolas, the scenery changes: wide alpine meadows, tinkling cowbells and glittering streams accompany the path. Behind a hilltop, the view opens up to the Panixer Pass and the majestic Graubünden mountains. Instead of branching off to the pass, the path continues to Alp Mer.

A special highlight is the traverse under the Crap Tigliau, not least because of the turquoise Lag da Pigniu, which shimmers deep below. Past Alp Ranasca, the stage finally ends in the charming mountain village of Pigniu.

Hint: In Pigniu there is only one hotel and accommodation facility: the Hotel Alpina. The hotel/restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The bus connections to Ilanz are limited, so check the departure times in advance on the SBB app and plan the hike accordingly.

Hidden Gem

For the tour, early reservation of the huts is necessary, as places are limited.

Safety Note

In uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Equipment

For the long-distance hike, it is recommended: hiking backpack with rain cover, good hiking boots or trekking shoes with a firm profile, weather-appropriate clothing in the multi-layer principle including rain and sun protection, a change of clothes, provisions and drinking water, telescopic poles, a first aid kit, pocket knife, headlamp, maps, hut sleeping bag and personal hygiene articles.
