Description

The first 16 km of the route follow those of the "Strada Alta" circuit. In fact, from the San Remo Sports Center you climb towards the Passit Pass, you descend towards Confin Basso before reaching the top of the San Bernardino Pass. From here continue in the direction of Pian Lumbrif (1853 m) passing through the characteristic mountain lakes, the "Laghitt d'Ardei", before going up in the direction of Cassina de Vignun. The hut is used in the summer months by shepherds who take care of the livestock. The path turns out to be smooth and without particular technical difficulties. Then continue in the direction of Alpe Pian Doss along the path that winds along the Valley of Silence. Before the last climb that leads to the swamp of the woods in the Fornas area, you skirt Lake Doss which in summer is a popular destination for those who want to relax and dive into the waters of the bathing lake. The last kilometers of the route wind on the shores of Lake Isola passing next to Alpe Portela where in summer you can buy different dairy products.

Hidden Gem

In case you want to shorten the route, the climb up to the cassina de Vignun is easily missed. Just continue straight to Pian Lumbrif for a few hundred meters and return to the planned route.
