Event Engadin Samnaun Val Müstair
Baroque organ music from the monastery archive

Description
At the end of World Heritage Day on June 15, Müstair Abbey offers an atmospheric finale.
In the Chapel of the Holy Cross, the Venosta Valley-born organist, harpsichordist and ensemble director Marian Polin will play works from the extensive music archive of the St. Johann monastery.
The monastery's music collection contains numerous valuable instruments as well as a remarkable collection of baroque church music. Among them is a very special treasure: a 180-page manuscript with countless organ pieces, which was scientifically examined for the first time a few years ago by Marian Polin. While the author(s) remain(s) unknown, the manuscript testifies to the internationality and high level of skill on the instrument of the former convent residents, who are known to have played the organ themselves.
Works by Girolamo Frescobaldi, Giacomo Porro, Johann Jacob Froberger, Alessandro Poglietti, Johann Caspar Kerll and anonymous compositions will be played on a small chest organ by Friedemann Seitz (Kaufbeuren, DE), giving the audience an exciting window into the convent of the Baroque era.
The two concerts will take place at 5pm and 7.30pm in the Heiligkreuzkapelle.
Due to the limited number of seats, registration at events@muestair.ch is urgently required. A collection for the preservation of the monastery complex is requested.
