"Bendorim" has been on stage since 2012 and enchants with her songs full of lightness, wit, charm and philosophical cleverness. The band, founded by Dela Hüttner, presents new compositions sung "songs in yiddish". Their music is a mixture of klezmer, world, folk and swing/jazz. Many of their songs are full of social or political statements and often contain the longing for a better life.

The melodies, some of which are very old, were brought to New York by Eastern European emigrants. At the turn of the 20th century, Yiddish music also found its way to Broadway. In musicals, operettas, shows, jazz, more and more words, rhythms and melodies from this culture appeared. Benny Goodman surprisingly incorporated a klezmer solo into his concerts, and Cab Calloway was also inspired by Yiddish folk music.

Conversely, composers such as Sholom Secunda or Abraham Ellstein - co-founder of the Yiddish Theatre Broadway - incorporated American music into Yiddish. In this heyday, this new mix was so popular that months-long, worldwide tours (including to Europe) were organized. "Global" was already at that time. Thanks to the Yiddish Broadway Theatre, women were able to break out of the traditional role model, they wrote their own song lyrics or even became impressarias. Yiddish lives on.
