Andrea a Marca will present two exceptional speakers, Miriam Nicoli and Stefania Bianchi.

At the end of their speeches, we will have the pleasure of sharing a festive ceremony of the Italian Pro Grigioni: Davide Nollo, mayor of Cama and member of the PGI Board of Directors will confer, on behalf of the association, the "Fatti di parole" award.

University researcher Miriam Nicoli has been sifting through some of the funds of the Archive in Marca for years in search of the writings of the self, especially letters and diaries. As a collaborator of the IKG, she has recently dealt with Clemente's Diary in Marca, written between 1792 and 1819, published by Cesare Santi and Martina in Marca, as well as his correspondence with his wife Giovanna Ferrari di Soazza. Of course, she has investigated all the extensive correspondence at home and abroad and now tells us about "the existence of women's networks in which we can trace destinies intertwined in time and space, evidence of feelings, friendships, power relations and gender dynamics."

Dr. Stefania Bianchi, researcher at the Laboratory of the History of the Alps between 2000 and 2015, now editor of the Ticino Historical Archive, has also published numerous studies on the history of emigration from Ticino and Italian-speaking Switzerland. Among the latest, together with Miriam, the thematic dossier Economic and Cultural Leadership in the Writings of the Self, Ticino-Grigioni, XVII-XIX secc. (2022) and, in English, the book Women's Voices. Echoes of Life Experiences in the Alps and the Plain, 17th-19th Century (2023). Normal at that time the absence of male emigrants engaged as traders, soldiers, artisans, entrepreneurs in the cities and towns of Europe, shows how obvious it was that many women took on business and family responsibilities in considerable autonomy, successfully and not only at home.
