Wiibli ond Mandli

Description
A man "like iron"?A woman, "so delicate and proper"?Pfff, as if! What are these dusty folk song lyrics supposed to tell us anymore? And what do they reveal about our current understanding of masculinity and femininity? Melanie Dörig and Meinrad Koch tackle the entire theater surrounding being a woman and a man with Appenzeller folk songs. Here, tradition is presented, heritage is dismantled, and new is created. The two former members of the Hitzigen Appenzeller Choir playfully challenge traditional gender roles with plenty of yodeling, piano, and in traditional attire, and they pose a lot of new questions about old songs. In "Wiibli ond Mandli," there is yodeling, humming, bickering, stroking, teasing, hollering, singing, and swearing. And all of this in the most expressive Innerrhoder dialect.
