Description
The outdoor fitness trails in the Heidiland holiday region comprise more than 30 uniformly signposted running paths from a total of 10 stations and thus form one of the largest open-air fitness parks in the Alpine region. The Quinten-Trail is one of four running trails around the Walenstadt station.
The starting point for this 8.7 km long trail is the info point of the Station Walenstadt near the Schifflände (425 m above sea level.M). The first few meters run along the lake and the playground. After this short run-in, the steep but even ascent begins on a well-developed alpine road to Frachtina (800). During the whole ascent you can see the Walensee and the Flumserberge again and again through the dense forest. Up to the clearing Garadur (829) you only have to overcome small, gentle inclines and have time to admire the imposing Churfirsten on the right. From Garadur, the trail leads over hill and dale on a partly technically demanding and steep hiking trail down to the lake (beware in wet conditions!). Even during the descent you always have a beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Once you have completed the steep descent, the trail becomes less challenging again and the landscape and topography become more varied. A bit up - a bit down - so the further course of the trail to Quinten. It goes past vines, waterfalls, streams, rugged rock faces, small hamlets and through forests. And if you have your eyes and ears open, you can see - or at least hear the many lizards that let themselves be warmed up by the sun. On the last section from Au to Quinten, the trail becomes really wide again and leads past a beautifully situated barbecue area and spectacular rock faces.
