Description
Stage 1: Ilanz - Siat
The three beautifully located villages Ruschein, Ladir and Siat lie on the south side of the Surselva between 1200 and 1300 meters above sea level. You can expect plenty of sun on an easy hiking path.
Stage 2: Siat - Andiast
After the Siater Alp, steep descent through the forest to the St. James depiction in the church of St. Valentin in Pigniu/Panix. Suvorov's army once plundered here.
Stage 3: Andiast - Ilanz
From Andiast to Rueun leads a comfortable natural road over pastures and forests to the valley floor. Between Rueun and Ilanz it mostly goes flat over gravel roads and hiking paths past the historic Giger brothers' workshop in Schnaus. The water wheel can be freely visited.
Stage 4: Ilanz - Cumbel
From Ilanz you pass by the St. Martin church of Ilanz and continue to Luven. In Luven it is worth checking out the Panera fire pit. The Panera was the tallest spruce in Switzerland at 48 meters.
Stage 5: Cumbel - Pitasch
True to the motto over stock and stone, this stage includes short sections on paved parts until it leads you to pristine and almost untouched nature. Idyllic mountain villages like Duvin and Pitasch transport you to a long past time.
Stage 6: Pitasch - Riein
Wildness and authenticity, you will not meet many people here. From Pitasch mainly natural roads and hiking trails lead ever higher and you look out on lush green meadows.
Stage 7: Riein - Ilanz
Natural roads lead through a landscape of alpine meadows, a fountain for resting, and the impressive Signina chain rises behind you. The path runs straight to Crap da Sevgein. Afterwards it leads left increasingly steeply to Sevgein.
Hidden Gem
We recommend hiking single days or two stages consecutively. Overnight accommodations are not available at every stage location.
