San Carlo - Miralago

Surrounded by steep slopes and high peaks, Poschiavo is not only suitable for extended mountain hikes over lonely heights. In the valley there are also hiking routes with a small difference in altitude. For an easy hike, the largely flat valley floor is ideal.

From the church of the village of San Carlo, it is initially a few dozen meters uphill to Somaino, then in the forest a bit further along a flat path and then down again to the northern end of Poschiavo. But from then on, the hike is practically flat.

In the second part of the tour, it goes through a graceful cultural landscape characterized by meadows, hedges and dry stone walls, later directly along the Poschiavino valley stream. At Rutisc you pass an idyllic water landscape with ponds and crystal-clear streams.

The last part of the hike leads directly along Lago di Poschiavo. The route offers a lot of variety: There are scenic nature paths, footbridges, galleries and even two short tunnels.

A coffee stop in Poschiavo is indispensable. The magnificent palazzi give the main town of the valley an urban atmosphere.
