Description

The starting point of this variant is the train station. On foot you can reach Maran via the Squirrel Trail. A narrow hiking trail leads you to Prätschalp. On the way over the Rot Tritt, enjoy the magnificent view all the way to the Ochsenalp. After a refreshment in the mountain restaurant, the tour continues over the Scheidegg to the middle station of the Arosa-Weisshorn cable car. On this section, it is worth taking a detour to the Hauptichopf. Over green meadows it goes down to the Prätschli.  If you don't want to walk down the last stretch, you can also take the local bus back to the village from here.

Geheimtipp

For the way back from the Ochsenalp to Arosa scooters can be rented. With this they will certainly convince their children (from 8 years / 140cm) for a hike to the Ochsenalp.

Directions

From the train station you can take the Eichhörnliweg or by local bus up to Maran. A hiking trail continues over the Prätschalp and the Rot Tritt to the Ochsenalp. From there, the tour goes back down the Scheidegg to the middle station of the Arosa-Weisshorn cable car and on to the Prätschli. On foot or by bus you go back to the village.

From Chur, the Rhaetian Railway runs every hour to Arosa and back. If you want to start the tour directly in Maran or end it in Prätschli, use the local bus on this section of the route.

Anreise Information

From Chur follow the road signs to Arosa. To get to Maran, turn right at the beginning of the village, at the top of the gas station and follow the road for about 1km.

Parking

Since there are only a limited number of parking spaces available in the Maran, it is recommended to park in the Ochsenbühl multi-storey car park. This is located after the sports and congress center on the left side and is also in the immediate vicinity of a bus stop.
