Surselva

A range of mountain creeks cover the alpine tundra, on the high plains of Greina. For a distance of six kilometres you can experience pure nature, as this part of the Surselva, is only accessible by foot.

The Rhine Gorge of the Surselva with its white steep walls is called the «Grand Canyon of Switzerland». Lakes, ravines and islands that offer shelter to numerous bird species make hiking an experience.

The Senda Sursilvana long-distance hike of around 100 km from the Oberalp Pass to Chur offers numerous cultural and historical highlights and can be done in several stages. 

The Safien Valley brings rare things to visitors: Peace and quiet, simplicity and authenticity. Lasting relaxation is easily found in these historic Wals-villages and mountain ranges.

In total, 170 km of slopes and 23 complexes that you can discover in Obersaxen Mundaun, Val Lumnezia and Brigels-Waltensburg-Andiast – diversity for families and carvers.

Sustainability in the winter holiday: in Tenna, you can find the first solar ski lift in the world. In three minutes, skiers are transported over a distance of 450 m, with 90.000 kWh of energy being generated.

You can get to the start by chairlift or on foot. Once at the top, you have to decide. Either take the moderately difficult toboggan run to Brigels or the somewhat easier one to Waltensburg.

Between Ilanz and Reichenau, the Rhine has carved a path through the rock over the course of 10,000 years. The result is a gorge that rightly bears the nickname «Swiss Grand Canyon».
